Former Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo drew the curtain down on his football career with a high scoring testimonial game between a ‘Team World’ select side and ‘Team Nigeria’ at Port Harcourt’s Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium.
Team Nigeria led by another former skipper Austin Jay Jay Okocha, beat Team World 5-4 in an entertaining hour-long match played in front of over 10,000 fans. The World side was managed by his former manager at Everton, David Moyes.

Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike snatched a hat-trick for Team Nigeria, who lined up amongst others, Vincent Enyeama, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Ahmed Musa and Efe Ambrose.
Samson Siasia, and Austin Auguavoen, who are also former international players now serving as coaches were also around to grace the occasion.
For the World Team, they also boasted the likes of serial African footballer of the year, Samuel Eto’o of Cameroon, former skipper of Ghana Stephen Appiah and and Sulley Muntari.
Yobo, is a former Standard Liege, Marseille, Everton and Fenerbache defender who featured at three World Cups and six Africa Cup of Nations, leading Nigeria to win a third Nations Cup in South Africa in 2013.
Yobo started his national career as an attacker for Nigeria’s youth team before he later switched to defensive duties, first at right back, a positioned he mastered for the Super Eagles, before moving to center back as his pace reduced with age.

Yobo played 101 games for Nigeria, the highest by any Nigerian player.
